Dr. Wendy Xiao Herman, MD, PhD
Dr. Herman is the founder of NeuroThrive. She double majored in Biological Anthropology and Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology during her undergraduate studies at Emory University. She then received her MD and PhD from Yale University. Her PhD thesis project was on the study of human visual conscious perception using electrodes implanted directly on the brain tissue of patients with epilepsy. She then completed pediatrics internship and residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She completed her training in child and adolescent neurology at Harvard Medical School’s Children’s Hospital of Boston. She then continued on to a clinical research fellowship in fetal and neonatal neurology at the same institution, conducting research in networks in the brain involved in different autism traits. She now practices as a pediatric neurologist.
Dr. Herman received extensive training in evaluation of autism using standardized instruments such as the ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd Edition) from world-renowned neuropsychology expert trainers at Boston Children’s Hospital. She is in the process of obtaining Research Reliability certification, which is the standard needed to conduct independent, consistent research in autism behaviors.
